  18. Coordinating Funds • Here are some methods and terms for coordinating funds: • Braiding funds • Blending funds • Consolidating funds • Transferring funds NEA.org • #INAdvisory Board @EducateIN

  19. Braiding Funds • This model refers to a district that may use several funding streams for a single need.  • However, each funding stream maintains its own identity.  • Also, each funding stream must maintain the specific requirements of each grant. • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  20. Blending Funds • Blending funds allows for more streamlined fiscal accounting. • Within a project, funds could be both blended (if authorized in statute) and braided. • By blending funds, the funding streams are combined for a single purpose and the identity of individual grants may be combined also. • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  21. Transferring Funds • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  22. Consolidating Funds • At a district level, an easy way to consolidate funds is by taking advantage of the new transfer options. • Contact your grant specialist for more information on how to consolidate funds best in your LEA. • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  23. Check In • What is the difference between blending and braiding of funds? • What is an easy way to consolidate? • How can blending, braiding, and consolidating of funds be used for problem solving? • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  24. Big Picture Recommendations • What were three important data points? • What are some possible solutions? • What, if any, recommendations can your group offer to help solve our State’s challenges? • What questions might you still have about blending and braiding of funds? • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  25. Committee Work • Begin at 1:00p.m. • Participants are free to leave when subcommittees adjourn • Be sure to stay in contact with Bill Bradford in the weeks leading up to the showcase presentation • The showcase is planned for April 24, which is the last day of Title Con • As of now, we have space in the government center reserved • Stay tuned for changes and adjustments to the dates, times, and locations. • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN

  26. Subcommitee Objectives • Decide on format for showcase • Will you be giving a presentation with slides? • Or will it be an informal presentation? • Who will be presenting? • Will it be a team presentation? • Decide what data may be most helpful (if relevant) • Is there data you need? • Or is the data available already? • Or, is it a guidance material (like a previous iteration of the handbook)? • Formulate a general idea of the recommendations you will offer • Is it a policy recommendation? • Or, is it a procedural update that is warranted from the data? • Or, is it an update or addition to our current guidance? • #INAdvisoryBoard @EducateIN
