  1. Panther Alim Vinca.

  2. There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates • Mammals. • Fish. • Reptiles. • Birds. • Amphibians.

  3. Panthers have certain characteristics that make them a mammal. Here are some of there attributes. • Most mammals: • They are warm-blooded. • Mammals have hair or fur. • Mammals give birth to live young. • Mammals feed their babies with mothers milk. • Mammals breathe through lungs.

  4. My animal has adapted to his environment. Its fur is tan to gray so when it’s in the wild, like in the desert, he has tan fur to hide from predators. Predators can be men who like to hunt it for meat and food. Its life span is ten to fifteen years because its great camouflage keeps it safe. Many panthers are killed when they are hit by cars.

  5. The Florida Panther’s DietThe Florida panther is a carnivore. That means it is a meat eater. Its favorite prey is the white-tailed deer. It also eats raccoons, armadillos, birds, and other small prey. It stalks its prey and pounces on it, bites the animal's neck and cuts the spinal chord. It may also suffocate its prey by grabbing it by the throat and cutting off its air.

  6. Animal AdaptationsThe panther lives in rainforest too. If it’s born in the rainforest it has grey fur. The panther can hide in the grey wet forest floor to stay away from predators. If it’s born in Florida, it has tan fur.

  7. A Panther’s HabitatThe black panther’s habitats include the rainforest, marshland, woodlands, swamps, savannahs, and even mountains and deserts. The Florida panther likes the Everglades. Every year the panther’s natural habitats are being destroyed by human beings.

  8. Florida Panther The panther is Florida’s state animal. It is one of the most endangered mammals on earth. It is tan and brown on the back and pale gray underneath. A panther’s height is about 23-27 inches at the shoulder for males. Females are smaller. Panther Males are about 7 feet from nose to tip of tail for males. They are about 6 feet long for females. Males have an average weight of 130 lbs. Females weigh about 70-75 lbs. They live about 10-15 years.

  9. Social BehaviorThe panther is most active during dawn and dusk. In the morning you’ll find them resting in the shade. They are like house cats. They are solitary animals and prefer to be by themselves. They will travel hundreds of miles within their home range. Males have a home range of about 200 square miles and females travel about 75 square miles.

  10. Interesting factsThe Panther can leap about 20 feet. The panther is a great climber. Whenever scientists try to put a radio collar around it will climb a tree to escape. They have to tranquilize them to put the collar on them. Scientist like to track the Florida panther because it is an endangered creature.
