Year 1: Taking our Place at the Table • Scripture: Created in the image and likeness of God (gen1: 26-27) • Catholic Social teaching focus: Human dignity, the common good, participation • We learn about our gifts from God (knowledge of self) • We get a sense of wonder about all of creation • We belong … a call to participation. We explore new ideas to shape our community and our world. • We ‘discover’ through faith and reason • We are engaged thinkers. I can collaborate to create new knowledge

Year 2: Walking Together • Scripture: Live justly, love tenderly, walk humbly with our God (Micah6:8) • Catholic Social teaching focus: Solidarity, Rights and responsibilities, Stewardship of the earth • Think critically • Inclusion • Multiple perspectives • Teachings of Jesus show what is ‘the right thing to do.’ • Role model: St. Francis • Pope Francis: “ I want to ask you a favour…I want to ask you to walk together, and take care of one another” March 19,/ 2013 Installation Mass Ethical Citizen: I do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

  7. Year 3: A Horizon of Hope • Scripture: Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. ( Matt 5:9) • Catholic Social teaching focus: Peace (supported by solidarity, human dignity, care for creation, participation, the common good) • The Holy Spirit is at work through us. • We are gifted with wisdom, understanding, wonder/ awe (fear of the Lord), counsel, knowledge, fortitude, and piety (reverence). Pope Francis: Today amid so much darkness, we need to see the light of hope and be men and women that bring hope to others. To protect creation, to protect every man and woman, to look upon them with tenderness and love, is to open up a horizon of hope. Entrepreneurial Spirit: I create new opportunities
