  1. Research Design and Techniques Evaluating Collaborative Reproductive Health Programs in Thailand

  2. Identifying Gap of Knowledge It is crucial for the researchers to identify their gap of knowledge before commencing their research design. The gap of knowledge can be identified by reviewing related literatures. Many studies have emphasised the importance reproductive health programs to developing countries. Some studies have been conducted to expose multidimensional aspects from such as social, organisation behavioural, public health management and community works perspectives. Many studies claimed that However, the recognition and practice of project evaluation towards sustainable outcomes that includes project management knowledge is minimal.

  3. Research Objectives and Question • Research Objectives • Address the current situation relating to sustainable outcomes of CRH projects between the United Nations Population Fund and the Thai Government after termination of the program funds. • Study factors that influence sustainable outcomes of CRH programs. • Apply project management principles to deliver CRH sustainable outcomes. • Develop a project management based model to assists future CRH programs in achieving sustainable outcomes. Main Research Question (MRQ) Can project management knowledge improve sustainable outcomes within collaborative reproductive health programs? • Guiding Questions to Main Research Question • Why are collaborative reproductive health (or CRH) programs important to Thailand? • How do these programs operate? • What are the sustainable outcomes to be delivered from these programs? • How do the programs deliver intended sustainable outcomes beyond program funding? • Howproject management knowledge benefit the programs and program sustainable outcomes?

  4. Research Design Framework Researcher’s Interest Literature Review Gap of Knowledge Research Questions Literature Review is a repetitive process

  5. Case Study Research When Case Study is employed? When “How” or “Why” questions are mostly asked • Why are collaborative reproductive health (or CRH) programs important to Thailand? • How do these programs operate? • What are the sustainable outcomes to be delivered from these programs? • How do the programs deliver intended sustainable outcomes beyond program funding? • Howproject management knowledge benefit the programs and program sustainable outcomes? When the researcher has no or little control over the studied situations When the research focus is on contemporary phenomenon When the researcher aims to deliver a unique and complex project Why Case Study? Case Study provides the researcher the opportunity for a holistic view Case Study enables us to examine many different aspects and their relationship

  6. Case Study Research Holistic -Single Case Design Designing Case Study Holistic -Multiple Case Design Embedded -Single Case Design Embedded –Multiple Case Design Nature of the research Case study design is subjected to… Research Question(s) The unit of analysis

  7. Mixed Methods Mixed Methods research is… a research that integrates both quantitative and qualitative data to answer the research questions Multiple Methods research is … a research design that employs more than one qualitative or quantitative methods in a single research

  8. Sequential Mixed Methods Can project management knowledge improve sustainable outcomes within collaborative reproductive health programs? MRQ Quantitative Findings Qualitative Findings

  9. Contribution to Knowledge Shift the paradigm of Project Management application from construction and engineering areas by expanding the knowledge to other project types Contribute to sustainable health development in developing countries where assistance from international development agencies plays important role
