  2. What would it be like to be in the actual presence of God?

  3. Exodus 3:1 (NKJV) Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

  4. Exodus 3:2 (NKJV) And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed.

  5. Exodus 3:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." 4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!“ And he said, "Here I am."

  6. Exodus 3:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.“ 6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

  8. Isaiah 5:16 (NCV) The Lord All-Powerful will receive glory by judging fairly; the holy God willshow himself holy by doing what is right.

  9. If we want fellowship with God, we need to come to know the Most Holy One!

  10. The Holiness of God. • God is holy, set apart as special above all the Creation. • Unlike the Creation (save angels, angelic beings),God is a Spirit (Jn 4:24) not a physical being. He is set apart as the Holy Spirit (Eph 4:30).

  11. There is no otherlike the Lord our God in purity, majesty, and glory!

  12. Exodus 15:11 (NASB) "Who is like Thee among the gods, O Lord ? Who is like Thee, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?

  13. 1 Samuel 2:2 (NASB) "There is no one holy like the Lord , indeed, there is no one besides Thee, nor is there any rock like our God.

  14. Isaiah 40:25 (NASB) "To whom then will you liken Me that I should be hisequal?" says the Holy One.

  15. God is absolute in greatness above all His creation! Psalms 8:1 (NASB) O Lord , our Lord, How majestic is Thy name in all the earth, who hast displayed Thy splendor above the heavens!

  16. God is worthy of our worship as the Most Holy One!

  17. Revelation 4:8 (NASB) And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say,"Holy, holy, holy, isthe Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come ."

  18. Psalms 99:5, 9 (NASB) 5 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool; Holy is He… 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His holy hill; for holy is the Lord our God.

  19. The Holiness of God. • God is holy, set apart as special above all the Creation. • God is holy in character (i.e. pure, sinless, blameless, good)

  20. Habakkuk 1:12-13a (NKJV) 12 Are You not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord , You have appointed them for judgment; O Rock, You have marked them for correction. 13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness. • NKJV

  21. Psalms 5:4 (NASB) For Thou art not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with Thee.

  22. Psalms 52:1 (NKJV) Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.

  23. Psalms 119:68 (NASB) Thou art good and doest good; Teach me Thy statutes.

  24. God is the standard of goodness. Only God is truly good!

  25. Mark 10:18 (NASB) And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.

  26. Seeking Fellowship with the Most Holy One. • Only those who live morally pure (holy) lives are permitted to commune with the most holy God.

  27. Psalms 24:3-4 (NASB) 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord ? And who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.

  28. Romans 3:10-12, 23 (NASB) 10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands;There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside;They have together become unprofitable;There is none who does good, no, not one…23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

  29. “The wall of sin” stands in the way of the sinner’s fellowship with God: Isaiah 59:2 (NASB)But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.

  30. Seeking Fellowship with the Most Holy One. • Only those who live morally pure (holy) lives are permitted to commune with the most holy God. • Every sinner, therefore, must seek God with a humble and contrite heart.

  31. Luke 18:13-14 (NASB) 13 "But the tax-gatherer, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!'14 "I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, but he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

  32. Isaiah 57:15 (NASB) For thus says the high and exalted One who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell on a high and holy place, and also with the contrite and lowly of spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

  33. Seeking Fellowship with the Most Holy One. • Only those who live morally pure (holy) lives are permitted to commune with the most holy God. • Every sinner, therefore, must seek God with a humble and contrite heart. • Those who seek God must see their DESPERATE need for FORGIVENESS.

  35. Isaiah 6:3-4 (NASB) 3 And one called out to another and said, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory."4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke…

  36. Isaiah 6:5 (NASB) Then I said, "Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts."

  37. Isaiah 6:6-7 (NASB) 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, with a burning coal in his hand which he had taken from the altar with tongs. 7 And he touched my mouth with it and said, "Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin is forgiven."

  38. Fellowship with the most holy God is made possible by the blood of Jesus!

  39. Hebrews 10:19-21 (NKJV) 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and havinga High Priest over the house of God…

  40. Hebrews 10:22 (NKJV) let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

  41. 1 Corinthians 1:30 (ESV) He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made ours wisdom and ourrighteousness andsanctification andredemption.

  42. No matter what sins you committed in the past, you can be made HOLYin Christ and by the Spirit of our God!

  43. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NASB) 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor thecovetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God… • NASB

  44. 1 Corinthians 6:11 (NASB) And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

  45. Acts 22:16 (NKJV) And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

  46. To Know who God is, Live by the Holy Spirit! Galatians 5:25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

  47. To Know who God is, Live by the Holy Spirit. • Every Christian has been given the gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells in them.

  48. Acts 2:38 (NASB) And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  49. Romans 5:5 (NASB) and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

  50. 1 Corinthians 3:16 (NASB) Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and thatthe Spirit of God dwells in you?
