  1. OBJECTIVE: To use group work, picture clues and a media clip to understand the ATHEIST and CHRISTIAN responses to unanswered prayers.

  2. OUTCOMES… Your GOALS for the end of this lesson are… GRADE C Will be able to identify what Christians think about prayer by interpreting Bible quotes. GRADE B Will be able explain why unanswered prayers may lead people NOT to believe in God. GRADE A/A* Will be able to formulate Christian responses to unanswered prayers.

  3. What is Prayer? Prayer is an effort to communicate with God, either to offer praise, to make a request, or simply to express one's thoughts and emotions. You should know this from last lesson – write a definition in your book – NO CHEATING!!!

  4. Christians and prayer • What might Christians think about prayer from these Bible quotes? Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7) If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.(Matthew 21:22)

  6. I have a problem with prayer. My problem is that God doesn’t answer them and therefore doesn’t exist! AND WHY SHOULD I ANSWER THEM?

Explain why unanswered prayers may lead some people to NOT believe in God. • In PAIRS– come up with ONE POINT each. • Now SWAP with another pair – add another POINT each – if they haven't got your last point you can use the same one  • Now SWAP again with someone different – choose TWO POINTS and give an EXAMPLE to link with this each. • SWAP again and repeat the previous instruction for the final TWO POINTS. • SWAP one last time – MARK the work in front of you in GREEN PEN .

  16. Plenary… This is the answer but what is the question? ? ADORATION, CONFESSION, THANKSGIVING and SUPPLICATION! …an effort to communicate with God! …because he does not exist, if he did he would answer them all! …he does, its just not always in the way you want or expect!
