  1. Leaky Shower Area Treatment Guide-Remedial Membranes Your bathroom safety could result in a slippery solution if you leave leaky shower area untreated. Additionally, you will require a disposable knife, chlorine, scraper, and gloves to waterproof the shower area. Follow the below mentioned steps to waterproof the leaky shower area:

  2. Start with cutting out the existing silicone in the shower area surface using a knife. If the silicone is not coming out completely, you can rub the knife on both the edges of the silicone. It will come completely and easily out of the surface.

  3. Remove any remaining sealant using a scrapper and make sure to remove it completely before moving forward to the next step.

  4. After you are done with completely removing the silicone sealant out off the surface, clean the surface with pool chlorine as a cleaning agent because it helps in the treatment of mould. Be sure to follow the safety precautions listed on the chlorine Mix 1 part of water with equal parts of chlorine and spread the mixture thoroughly on the shower area. Scrub the surface nicely and floor the shower floor completely removing all traces of the chlorine. Remove excess water and let the surface dry completely. You can dry out the area using a heater to speed up the process.

  5. Check for any missing grouts or cracks on the surface, and fill the needed ones with clear Soudal if you don’t have time to wait or use matching colour grout but be sure to wait the allotted cure time listed on the packaging. You don't have to scratch out the existing grout, just fill in the cracks and leave it to get dry.

  6. Apply caulking in the junction the walls and floors, wall between s and walls, and the waste tile area connecting the pipe with the Soudal joint adhesive.

  7. Mix the Clear Waterproofing Membrane part 1 & 2 and apply the mixture on the surface and walls up to 100mm in height or to the first grout joint. Avoid any runoff and wipe over. Once complete with the first coat let it dry and go clear. To quicken the dry time use a convection heater.

  8. Before starting the next coat, mix the slip resistant aggregate with the remaining mixture. Apply the mixture the same way done in the above step, just do not forget to give the mixture a timely stir to avoid the aggregate to settle down at the bottom. Leave the shower area to get dry for the next 24hrs and it will be ready to use the very next day. Wipe it dry for seven days until the membrane is fully cured. 22 22 25 25
