  1. What you should know about Acid Reflux What is acid reflux? The lower esophageal sphincter (LES) located at the entrance of stomach closes after the food we eat passes through it. But, if this ring of muscle does not close properly or opens abruptly the acid secreted by stomach can move up to esophagus causing heartburn or chest pain. If the symptoms occur more than twice in a week, a person could be suffering from acid reflux disease or gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). What are the causes of acid reflux? One of the most common causes attributed to this disease is Hiatal Hernia which is a stomach disorder. In this condition the upper part of the stomach and the lower esophageal sphincter goes above the diaphragm. Diaphragm is a muscle separates stomach and chest and it prevents the acid from reaching the esophagus. When the stomach is in place, the acid cannot move upwards. In case of Hiatal Hernia the acid built in the stomach acid flows upwards giving rise to symptoms of acid reflux. Here are some other causes of acid reflux: Eating too much at a time and going to bed right after the meal Obesity Lying on the back after a full meal or bending down over the waist Eating snacks at the bedtime Consuming food such as chocolate mint garlic tomato, onions, spicy or fried foods Too much of tea, coffee and carbonated or alcoholic drinks Smoking Pregnancy Intake ofibuprofen, aspirin, certain muscle relaxers, or blood pressure medications Acid Reflux Home Treatment Remedies Take 1 tea spoon full of baking soda and add it to a glass of water that is not more than 8 ounces. Drink it right away. However, make sure not to take more than 7 times in a period of 24 hours. Also, make sure not to continue with this treatment more than a week as it can have side effects like nausea or bloating. Drink ½ cup of aloe juice before meals. This will help you deal with heart burn issues effectively.

  2. Get rid of processed foods and items high on sugar as these food stuffs increase the rate of gastric influx and also create bacterial imbalance in stomach and intestine. Add 1 tablespoon of raw organic apple cider vinegar and mix it with 4 ounces of purified water and drink before every meal. This calm the stomach and helps in digesting food properly. It is quite helpful when you get severe heartburn and provides fast relief. A lesser known therapy to deal with acid reflux is the use of Himalayan Crystal salt in place of your regular table salt. It helps your stomach generate more acid. Yes, acid reflux can happen when your stomach generates way too little hydrochloric acid. As a result your LES remains lose and doesn’ttighten up allowing the acid to flow up to esophagus. The Himalayan Crystal salt has chlorides and many more trace minerals required by the body. Raw foods have great many advantages. In fact you should try to cook your food below 116o Fahrenheit in order to retain the enzymes that can help fight acid reflux. Try eating a ripe banana every day or consume an apple to combat acid reflux. Learn more about acid reflux from RefluxMD, Inc. get specific answers to your acid reflux problem.
