Artificial satellites • Artificial satellites are human objects orbiting the earth and other planets in the solar system • They are used to study the Earth and help communicate as well as look at distant stars • Some satellites have people in them like the international space system and space shuttles

  3. Extra information • There are estimated to be 3000 artificial satellites orbiting the Earth and an estimated 8000 pieces of space junk that fall from objects that orbit the Earth • There are different types of orbits like low orbits that are very close to the Earth and orbits when a satellites remains still helping with communicate and taking photos of the Earth spinning on its axis

  4. Satellites purpose • Satellites have different purposes ,for navigational purpose, military purpose, weather observation, scientific research • Satellites are made to last through vacuum and radiation to fulfil a purpose or do several purposes at the same time

  5. Satellites orbit • The height of the orbit from the earth shows how long a satellite will be there for example high orbits mean an satellite will be orbiting for millions of years
