    3. 5/9/2012 3 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate Security There are many reasons for Security; however, 2 main reasons are: 1. To keep things confidential 2. To limit access to the file, so that only authorized entries can be made Make sure to remove passwords when the weekly gradebook drops are made

    9. 5/9/2012 9 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate Server Storage Usually, when the Teacher Server is mentioned … We Think about the place where Teachers keep files… BUT … Staff and Students are also able to keep files, also There are also a location where FILES are able to be SHARED Example: (7 Folders) Attendance, Class Forms (Some), Dean’s and the GRADEBOOK

    10. 5/9/2012 10 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate Server Storage Once properly logged onto a school computer (Unlock Foolproof) Locate the Finder APPLE (Colored) Click & Hold the mouse on the Apple Scroll down to the Novell Teacher Server, and Release the mouse Click

    12. 5/9/2012 12 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate Server Storage When 1st Opened the Novell Server Icon appears (Right) NOTE: It may TAKE awhile Then the Novell Server Window Panel will appear … It should contain 3 main folders

    14. 5/9/2012 14 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate Server Storage Novell Server - USERS Folder (Icon View) The Users Folder should contain at least 2 Folders (Library and TEACHER)

    17. 5/9/2012 17 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate Server Storage Once the Novell Server is opened to your folder … all you have to do is drag and drop into it OR Go to FILE, SAVE AS, and create the path to your folder on the server However, it may SLOW the SAVING Process up and LOCK the computer up … NOT Recommended

    18. 5/9/2012 18 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop Once a week the Administration Staff will require that your EGP Gradebook be dropped into a SHARE File They and ONLY they can view your gradebook from the SHARE File PURPOSE: If you are unable to attend a Parent/Student/Teacher type Meeting, that they can attempt to answer questions, on your behave

    19. 5/9/2012 19 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop The Administration can NOT make any changes to your gradebook, they can ONLY VIEW it The DATE of the Drop will be determined by the Principle BE SURE, if you are using a PASSWORD, to protect your gradebook, that the password is REMOVED before making the weekly drop

    20. 5/9/2012 20 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop You can ONLY PLACE Files into this Drop Box … IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT drop your EGP File into the SERVER Drop Box from your Individual Server File Your file will DISAPPEAR from the server

    21. 5/9/2012 21 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop For the Weekly Drop Return to the Server’s Opening Window Panel The Folder needed for the drop is the SHARED Folder Double Click or Click on the Arrow to open the SHARED Folder

    23. 5/9/2012 23 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop Click & Hold the mouse on the EGP File Drag it and Drop the EGP File in the Gradebook Depository This Dialog Box will appear Click OK

    24. 5/9/2012 24 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop This Copy Dialog Box will appear There is NO WAY to check & see inside of the GRADEBOOK DEPOSITORY … If the EGP File is dropped again … This Dialog Box may appear … Click OK

    25. 5/9/2012 25 Part ~ 10 ~ Intermediate The Weekly Drop If you make a mistake … By dropping from the Server into the Server Drop Box, and This was your ONLY SAVED EGP File … You will need to contact the ECS for assistance That is why … Sometimes it is a wise to have at least one Backup Copy
