  1. The Almost Christian “Agrippa replied to Paul, In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian” (Acts 26:28).

  2. Agrippa • Living in one world, longing for another. • Paul could paint a beautiful picture of heaven. • He could also speak of torment. • The “almost” Christian, and the “altogether” Christian. • Look at what’s implied. • “Almost” people can have good characteristics, and sometimes we rely too much on them.

  3. Heathen Honesty • Romans 2:14-15 • The world respects honesty. Not “theoretical” honesty, but practical. • No cheating, oppressing, stealing. • We all know “unreligious” people who “will do anything for you”. • From donating blood to mowing your grass. • Good neighbors. But still, “Almost”.

  4. A Form of Godliness • 2 Tim. 3:5 • We respect prayer, but may not pray. • We may attend all worship services. • Generally practices the golden rule, or a modification: “Don’t treat others the way you don’t want to be treated.”

  5. Sincerity • Rom. 2:20 • The inward principle of religion from which outward action flows. • The difference between the almost Christian and the hypocrite. • Can we go this far and still be “almost”? • Paul and Apollos did. • Religion can be a business, or a crutch

  6. The Altogether Christian • Matt. 22:37-40 – This person rejoices in “God my Savior.” (Luke 1:47) • Love for neighbor, and “Who is my neighbor?” Acts 17:26; Rom. 5:6 • Obedient faith – John 1:12

  7. “But here let no man deceive his own soul. It is diligently to be noted, the faith which brings not forth repentance and love and all good works is not that right living faith which is here spoken of, but a dead and devilish one. For, even the devils believe, and yet, for all this faith they be but devils.” John Wesley • 2 Cor. 12:15; Matt. 10:22 • Faith working by love – Gal. 5:6
