  1. God Loves You

  2. There was no identity crisis in the life of Jesus Christ. He knew who He was. He knew where He had come from, and why he was here. And he knew where He was going. And when you are that liberated, then you can serve. Howard Hendricks

  3. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:14-17 (KJV)

  4. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. John 3:14-17 (NIV)

  5. Who visits Jesus at night and why? • What does baptism symbolize? • To what story in the OT does Jesus point Nicodemus to? • For whom did Christ die? • What did John the Baptist tell his disciples about Jesus? • What is the alternative to choosing Christ?

  6. Journaling Video clips: restoration

  12. Guided Learning Exercise Hand in “knowledge quest”

  13. If I might comprehend Jesus Christ, I could not believe on Him. He would be no greater than myself. Such is my consciousness of sin and inability that I must have a superhuman Saviour. Daniel Webster

  14. The fruit of redemption

  15. The full result of Atonement

  16. What is at stake here? What is the Great Controversy about?

  17. The “dragon” as a roaring lion consumed by hatred wants only power and to hurt God . . . by hurting you.

  18. Obedience is the key; to obey is strength

  19. Doing the right thing is almost always the hard thing.

  20. But what is the reward? What does At-One-Ment look like?

  21. God is waiting for a new beginning . . .

  22. One more look at what the Great Controversy is about

  23. The “evil sorceress” who has lied repeatedly to you about your heritage only wants you for what she can get out of you. Christ’s true sacrifice (redeemed by love) is offering himself to save you.

  24. Journaling What similarities/differences are there between the Beast (his transformation, etc.) and Christ’s Atonement on the Cross? What lessons or additional emotional lessons can we learn from the portrayal of the GC from KFP and/or from Tangled? What similarities are there between Belle (her growing love of the Beast, etc.) and with humanity’s relationship with Christ? Darth Vader becomes “Anakin” again at the end of his life. What implications might there be for us as Christians? Can God reverse a life trend bent on evil? How?

  25. John 3

  26. Idea Study Atonement At one ment

  27. “The earth was dark through misapprehension of God. That the gloomy shadows might be lightened, that the world might be brought back to God, Satan’s deceptive power was to be broken. This could not be done by force. The exercise of force is contrary to the principles of God’s government . . .

  28. “ . . . He desires only the service of love; and love cannot be commanded; it cannot be won by force or authority. Only by love is love awakened. To know God is to love Him; His character must be manifested in contrast to the character of Satan . . .

  29. “. . . This work only one Being in all the universe could do. Only He who knew the height and depth of the love of God could make it known. Upon the world’s dark night the Sun of Righteousness must rise, ‘with healing in His wings.’ Mal. 4:2.” – pg22, Desire of Ages, pub. 1890

  35. WORD = kosmon kosmon “cosz-mon”

  36. Journaling Why would Christ use a serpent as a symbol of Himself? What lessons might He be trying to teach? John 3:16-17 are very similar. Why would John apparently repeat concepts so close together? The Greek word (kosmov) which is translated “world” in John 3:16 actually means the COSMOS, or the universe. How would this change the meaning?

  37. “Few give thought to the suffering that sin has caused our Creator. All heaven suffered in Christ’s agony; but that suffering did not begin or end with His manifestation in humanity. The cross is a revelation to our dull senses of the pain that, from its very inception, sin has brought to the heart of God.” –pgs 263-264, Education, pub. 1903

  42. God Loves You

  43. As a child I received instruction both in the Bible and in the Talmud. I am a Jew, but I am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene....No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life. Albert Einstein

  44. But Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, unless you are born from water and the Spirit, you cannot enter God's kingdom . . . spiritual life comes from the Spirit . . . we talk about what we know, and we tell about what we have seen, but you don't accept what we tell you . . . The only one who has ever gone up to heaven is the One who came down from heaven—the Son of Man . . . Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, the Son of Man must also be lifted up . . . God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world . . . but to save the world . . . If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new! All this is from God. Through Christ, God made peace between us and himself, and God gave us the work of telling everyone about the peace we can have with him. God was in Christ, making peace between the world and himself. In Christ, God did not hold the world guilty of its sins. And he gave us this message of peace. So we have been sent to speak for Christ. It is as if God is calling to you through us. We speak for Christ when we beg you to be at peace with God. Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God.

  45. Why might Nicodemus visit at night? a)It was hot in the day time b)He didn’t want to be seen with Jesus in the day time c)He had a bad dream and couldn’t sleep Jesus references what OT leader? a)Moses b)Elijah c)King David When disciples complain to John the Baptist, he . . .? a)Says nothing to the disciples but lets them figure it out b)Sends the disciples back to ask Jesus if He is the One c)Affirms that Christ MUST grow in importance
