My thoughts about ' Shortie Like Mine 'By Monique A.I choose this rating because ' Shortie Like Mine ' is a book of the teenage life and I believe that many others will love it to because... to me I believe Ni-Ni Simone but her heart into and she's teaching kids/teenagers a lesson. I like this book so much because there aren't really many books that will have the thick girl getting the man of her dreams... Like for example

  2. Seven didn't think she was going to be able to go out with Josiah because of the things her ' friend ' said to her. This book shows us that everything isn't about YOUR SIZE OR HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU! because if they don't love you for who you are than they never did so once again.. Thank You Ni-Ni Simone for making this amazing book. Love, Kayla0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Amazing BookBy Kimmesha FlowersThis is my second time reading Shortie Like Mine. It was good when I first read it back in 7th grade, by now it's even better because I can really relate to the characters and what's going on. I liked Seven because she was so down-to-earth and sweet, but made sure period knew their boundaries with her. He relationship with Shae reminds me of mine with my bestie. Tells you exactly how it is and doesn't care if you like her opinion, as long as the right message is sent. Deeyah was the prime example of how girls can be so mean and jealous, but it always jumps back on them, in this case, Seven took her rightful place as girlfriend to high school phenom Josiah Whitaker. The twin, Toi, reminds me if my cousin. She doesn't listen and you can't tell her anything. Now she's in a hole she can't dig out of. But it's a lesson learned and a story to tell. When Seven was being pressured into sex with Josiah, it really hit home with me because I'm her age and that's really a epidemic with teens. I don't want to be regretful of any choices I make, so I'm choosing to wait a while. I'm college-bound, I don't want to jeopardize that. So, this is just a thankful remark for writing such relatable teen fiction. I've read all of your other books as well, like Teenage Love Affair, A Girl Like Me and your latest No Boyz Allowed. Even ones you've collaborated on like The Break Up Diaries Volume 1. Just keep it up with the phenomenal reads. I look forward to what's ahead. I bought the book because I was looking for something different to read and I'm not normally into books that are about high school or middle school characters since I've been out of HS for over 10 yr. But, this was a refreshing book and took me back to my HS days and the little things we used to do. I loved Seven and Shae's friendship! They are the true meaning of best friends and I love the twins mother and now she was a no nonsense kind of mother when it came to Seven and Toi. I didn't give the book 5 starts because Cousin Shake was a little over the top me and wasn't as funny to me as his character was written to be. But over all I loved the book and now I want to know what happen with Toi so I'm going to buy "If I Were Your Girl". A YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult ReadersWhat happens when the girl everyone least expects gets the guy all the chicks want. . .?she can rock Apple Bottoms jeans and stilettos like nobody's business, but she's got her share of issues. It's not easy being the thickest one in her clique or hiding that her rebellious twin sister Toi is playing wifey to the neighborhood thug. And Seven is definitely not happy that she's feelin' the school's hottest baller, Josiah, especially since he's dating her high maintenance girlfriend, Deeyah. But when Deeyah decides to play Josiah and his worst enemy against each other, she'll have everyone facing off in the worst way. The question is can Seven try and set things right or does she end up trying to save herself from major heartbreak?
