  1. Student Drop-off and DismissalParent Information Night September 26, 2019

  2. Parent Info Night Agenda • Welcome • Purpose and logistics of the meeting • Why are the changes happening? • Specifics of the new procedures • Questions and Answers • Form to complete with questions if not enough time.

  3. Purpose and Logistics • Provide a clear understanding of the new procedures • If you have questions or concerns, please write them on a question and concern form located by the sign in sheet. These will be collected at the question and concern time of the meeting. • Time limit for meeting will be 45 minutes (6:45PM). • If questions and concerns are not addressed by 6:45PM, an email response will be sent by Sunday evening if the answer was not provided in the meeting.

  4. Why the Change? • Complaints from parents, staff, and law enforcement. • CHP, Kern County Sheriff Dept., and Kern County Public Works (Roads Dept.) observed our traffic during drop-off and dismissal. They stated we need to make a change. • Two lanes on Imperial are dangerous and illegal • Parents and others driving too fast on both 35th St. and Imperial • To protect both walkers and drivers

  5. Specifics of the New Procedure • Walkers can still enter and exit the school in the front. • For student safety, at the end of the day walkers will be held inside the gate until the buses are gone. • Bus transportation will be in the front of the school before and after school. • Parents that park and walk their students to the gate may still do so up front. Keep in mind that there will be no staff to help cross the drive-through area. Please continue to use the crosswalks.

  6. Specifics of the New Procedures Continued… • Student Drop-off and Pick-up by Car: • Being moved to the back • Two areas for drop-off and pick-up: The drive-through in the back and a gate further down by the last portable (Room 803) • For drop-off and pick-up on Holiday at the gate by keep in mind that there are no parking signs- CHP stated that you may pull up along the curb to drop students off to enter the gate, however may not park and leave your car.

  7. Specifics of the New Procedures Continued… • Kindergarten Procedures: • Sibling Release Form- Can be completed to have siblings take students to the back car pick-up or walk them. • K Parents will still pick up K students in the front, but will have to park and walk up to the school. K parents will need to remain in the area between the planter and the K wall or towards the 1st grade classrooms as we need to be able to walk our students to the buses so will need the outside part of the sidewalk for our bus students to walk.

  8. Questions and Concern Time • Collection of question and concern forms • One question or concern will be answered at a time.

  9. Thank you for coming! • We know that this is going to be a rough transition, but please be patient with us. • Please keep in mind that if we see a concern once the new procedures are in place, some minor changes may need to be made. If so we will keep you informed. • We all want OUR students to be as safe as possible! • Thank you again for your support!
