  1. Digital Innovation and Culture Business and internet giants

  2. Digital and Non-Digital Avenues within Business • The digital approach is becoming more common in society with everything “analog” having a digital counter part taking its place with more to offer the user, all starting from the landline being replaced by mobile phones. • Digital integration has become an enormous part of our society and is both more favored and acceptable within everyday life. • This is also leading us to become a cashless society with the ability and convenience to be able to pay contactless through a mobile device. • Digital giants such as Amazon and Google are making it easier to be able to add further technologies together to integrate them into every aspect of requirement of life.

  3. Digital replacing Analog Example The analog watch has progressed into the smartwatch we are using to complete tasks through the device such as; • Make and receive calls and messages • Monitor heart rate, blood pressure and physical activities • Personalization eliminating the need for multiple watches for different occasions • Allows for all notifications to be displayed without the need to have the smartphone in hand.

  4. What the Digital Avenue brings to Business that owns them. • The business giants create a range of products which allows for things such as surveillance, remote access and an undetectable link to the digital world. • It generates a compliance through ignorance, this is apparent in how society is too busy to read the terms and conditions before accepting and legally binding contract. • They are able to collect large amount of data freely as everything requires a log in on location service in order to work properly, this is largely influenced through the offer of free services through a sign up. • It allows for free advertisement within itself to the other products or services on offer.

  5. Advantages and Disadvantages of Digital Avenues Advantages: • Ease of access for programmers. • One device that can control all aspects of the home without the need of having to be in the home with the use of the internet making it more convenient for the user. • Improves accessibility for all meaning there is less limitations within the home for people. Disadvantages: • Become reliant on the internet for the linked in system to work and function as it should, but also means relying on a 3rd party to provide the bridge in communication needed for the system to be complete. • Beginning to isolate society as we are becoming more able to do anything without having to leave the home or even interact with other humans. • Anyone is able to add content to the web leading to a lot of misinformation being given out or sources being unreliable.

  6. Researched Evidence – Spotify This timeline shows the progression of Spotify from its origin through its development of the software, it also shows when it was made available to each platform and how many users it has. It is the biggest rival to both Apple music and Amazon music due to having more to offer from its services and its low cost. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiN-qHRjIThAhWhxYUKHW53AosQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Finsights.daffodilsw.com%2Fblog%2Fhow-spotify-works-business-model-and-revenue-streams&psig=AOvVaw1SVMAHiTe96n2xtTnLBVDN&ust=1552737613411942

  7. Researched Evidence - Google https://www.officetimeline.com/blog/image.axd?picture=/2017/09/Google-Timeline.png • This image shows the basic timeline of the progression of Google from its start including the launch of Chrome since this point Google has also branched out and released; • Google Pixel – Googles own phone operating Android combined with Chrome first released February 21, 2013 • Google home – not only providing a way to create a smart home but also an additional line of products to compliment this including Nest which is focused on home security, Google home was launched November 2016 • ChromeBook – offered Google the competition against Macbook released 15 June 2011

  8. How the Giants Effect Other Businesses • Everyone is online using their services and products • The highstreets is declining due to online shopping • New businesses struggle to set up due to these big giants monopolizing the industry, and any advertising they wish do is payable to one of these giants. • Due to becoming a cashless society new small businesses will require the expenses of being able to offer card and contactless services.

  9. How other Businesses stay Relevant. • Meeting all expectations customers may have such as being active on social media and allowing multiple payment options. • Becoming integrated with the big businesses by using things such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads. • Having an defined and established online persona from that startup. • They have to stay current not only with their product or services but also with the cannels they use to communicate and advertise such as using any new social media that becomes present.

  10. How the Digital Divide effects Society • Amazon has monopolized shopping meaning that due to being able to offer competitive prices and next day delivery it takes most of the business from the highstreets meaning they are becoming derelict. • The use of all the technology which is so readily available and easy to get hold of means society is becoming isolated if you are not using the online space, but the use of it is isolating individuals as it is easier to be able to be in solitude and still be able to work and function from the home with everything being available through a digital channel.

  11. Impact of the Storing of Data Online • Society is ignorant on the amount of data they are willing to give to be able to access aspects of the internet and products, all of this is then stored and held to be analyzed, meaning it could be very easy to identify us by combining this data together. • Not all data we find on the Web has come from a creditable source and many time we can not find a source to it which provides a lot of misleading information added by someone through personal gain or enjoyment.
