  2. Introduction • Oh, happy day! You and your friends have won a trip that will take you around the world to the seven continents where you will explore the different biomes! You will get to see such ranging places such as the hot, dry deserts in Africa, and the dark, wet rainforests in South America! Do you think that by the end of your journey you will know all about deserts, grasslands, and all the other biomes?

  3. Task • You will keep a journal in which you will describe what you see and how you felt when you were there (physical, emotional). • By the time you come back to your home you will be able to tell everyone what all the different biomes are like and what types of animals live there. • For the final project, your group will create a poster of one of the different biomes, where you will have the continent, the climate, and the animals that are found there. Your group will present this to the class.

  4. Process • You will be assigned to groups of three: • Leader (This person will be responsible for making sure everything is right on track.) • Observer (This person will choose what they need to know.) • Writer (This person will write down important information.) • First, you have to know exactly what a biome is Click here to find out -> • The observer and the leader will read through the website and decide what are the main characteristics of a biome. • The writer will take out the group’s journal and write down all the information. You will make a either a flow chart or a table in which you will write down the different types of biomes. I am a chart, click me  • Once you are done with that, you will move on to the actual biomes. • Is it cold in here? Then why is it so dry?? That’s because I am a … • After reading the website, look at the pictures and describe what it would feel like to be there and what types of animals and plants you would see.

  5. Process • It was so cold back there, so let’s see if you can go somewhere warmer. In fact, I think you’ll jump on over to … • Hey! Doesn’t that place look familiar? • Well, that was quite a change, but why don’t you go somewhere more pleasant so you don’t dehydrate. So next up would be the great -> • Doesn’t it feel great there? Well, describe it, tell me what you see and what it’s like there! • After much traveling, you feel tired, maybe you should go to the beach, right next to the… Ocean!! Would it even be possible for a human being to live there?

  6. Process • Lastly, but certainly not least, is the green grassland. Isn’t this a nice place to end your trip? Click the picture to find out why ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ |||||||||||||| • Now that you are finished learning about the different biomes, you should have written down a bunch of information about them. • Using this information, you will choose the biome that you want and come to me so that I could put it down as yours. • Your group will work together to create a poster where you will draw the different types of trees, animals, plants, and the climate. • You can look through this site to find a report so you can organize your thoughts. Accommodations: For English Language Learners you can copy and paste the words into the box on this website and click on translate so that you may understand the assignment.
