  5. Three of the most common classes of fonts are: • Serif fonts • Sans-serif fonts • Script fonts

  6. Serif Fonts • Has little "feet," called serifs, at the ends of the lines that make up the letters. • Some examples: • Times New Roman • Palatino Linotype • Garamond • These fonts are more traditional, elegant, and old-fashioned.

  7. Sans-serif Fonts • Don't have those feet. "Sans serif" means "without serifs." • Some Examples: • Arial • Verdana • Tahoma • Helvetica • These fonts are more clean and modern.

  8. Script Fonts • Calligraphic or cursive fonts. • Example: • Brush Script • Freestyle Script

What Font Should I Use? • In printed materials • Sans-serif fonts are usually used in print for short blocks of information, like headlines, pull quotes, or bulleted lists. • Online (in websites, emails, and HTML newsletters) • Sans-serif fonts look the best: they're clean, clear, and easy to read • In Word Documents • Serif fonts are usually for faster reading
