  4. Disciples on fire for the Lord in 1975! Tempered, but still on fire for the Lord in 2011!

DISCIPLEMAKING As the Lord and the apostle Paul were intentional in “making” disciples, a CRC with an increasing number of churches and leaders practicing intentional disciple-making (DM) as the core of their ministry. With more equipped, mentored, trained disciples, CRC would have a growing pool of Christ-like, reliable, reproducing leaders. Mark 10:45, 2 Timothy 2:2, John 15:8 VISION DM? DISCIPLEMAKING • A life-to-life mentoring/teaching process that is intentional, purposive • Through one-on-oneor one-with-a- small group context • As modeled by the Lord Jesus and the apostle Paul • To “produce” Christ-like, obedient, reliable , and reproducing disciples • The kinds of leaders who will keep on obeying the Great Commission • Not just a program, but the heart and purpose of a church VISION DM? DISCIPLEMAKING • VISION • DM? • GOALS • STRATEGY • ACTIVITIES • OUTCOMES • QUESTIONS • Build groundswell through the 1:1 CHALLENGE “1 leader commits to mentor/train 1 new disciple in 2 years” • Partner with churches, classes, CRC agencies, educational institutions, non-CRCs working on leadership development • Organize learning events, forums (live and online) and a sustained information campaign integrated with the other LEX undertakings

Program • Develop 2-year informational plan integrated with 1:1 CHALLENGE and other LEX ministries

DISCIPLEMAKING • VISION • DM? • GOALS • STRATEGY • ACTIVITIES • OUTCOMES • QUESTIONS In 2012… • Seminar-workshop on intentional disciple-making, Spring 2012 • Collect and promote stories and best practices from those engaged in 1:1 CHALLENGE • Monitor & assess 1:1 CHALLENGE • Set action plan to sustain the process of mentoring and training disciples and disciple-makers

DISCIPLEMAKING • VISION • DM? • GOALS • STRATEGY • ACTIVITIES • OUTCOMES • QUESTIONS By the end of 2012… • 50-100 trained disciples and disciple-makers • 50% of the 47 Classes have a DM catalyst/“champion” • CRC and non-CRC mentoring and training materials selected/published • Partnerships with CRC and non-CRC programs established • A good kind of dent in CRC leadership culture begins to be seen and felt

Is intentional DM just a fad that will fade? If the Lord is calling us to do this, what would you do to make it happen and sustain it? What could be 3 great hindrances to prevent DM from becoming an integral part of our CRC culture?
