  1. More Problems

  2. What would the displacement time graph look like for this problem? • I leave for school in the morning at 6:55 AM, I return home normally around 4:15 PM. The school is about 24 miles from my home. What is my average velocity for the day in m/s? 1 mile = 1600 m • Trick question- v = displacement /t • v = 0 m/s • Calculate the speed in m/s • distance = 48 miles = 76800 m • t = 9:20 or 560 min or 33600 s • speed = 2.3 m/s

  4. What would a velocity vs. time graph look like

  5. Problem • Calculate the velocity and speed of a person who travels 27 m forward and 15 m backwards in 8.2 seconds. Sketch a displacement and velocity graph. • Total distance 42 m • Speed = distance/time • Speed = 42m /8.2 s = 5.1 m/s • Displacement = 27-15 m = 12 m forward • Velocity = 12 m / 8.2 = 1.5 m/s forward

  6. Displacement graph Displacement (m) Time (s)

  7. Velocity graph velocity (m/s) Time (s)

  8. Problems • How long will it take an object to accelerate from 2.9 m/s to 14.5 m/s if it accelerate at 4.2 m/s2? • Calculate the acceleration of an object that traveled 76 m in 4 s with an initial velocity of 11 m/s, what was its final velocity?
