  1. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? GURGAON FERTILITY CENTRE

  2. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • Laser hatching: • A covering layer (shell) surrounds embryos or blastocysts called the Zona Pellucid (ZP). • The zona has an essential role in fertilization as it allows only one sperm to infiltrate the zona and enter the egg to achieve fertilization

  3. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • It also acts to prevent impulsive implantation in the Fallopian tube and may help to prevent the early embryos from being attacked by cells of the immune system. • The embryos have to hatch or break out of the zona in order to attach into the endometrium covering the uterine cavity.

  4. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • This occurs about 4 to 5 days after embryo transfer when the embryo is at the blastocyst stage. • Methods of Assisted Hatching in India • ChemicalThis implicates chemicals (acid tyrodes) used to create a faded area of the zona. The chemical is smeared through a micro tool, inclined by an embryologist.

  5. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • It is not only accurate as when working with such insignificant amounts of chemicals but also tough to quantify the dose with isolate accuracy. • The acid then has to be washed off in order to check further damage to the embryo. • LaserThe zona is penetrated by the microlaser It creates a clean cut precise notch in the zona.

  6. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • This is more accurate for several reasons • The method is fast compared to the chemical method, thus the embryo does not be held still by a pipette. • The precision of the laser is scheduled by its programming, and is therefore not dependent on the skill of the operative. There is a high degree of accuracy.

  7. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • Who is Suitable for Laser Assisted Hatching? • Those patients who have IVF (ICSI) who are in excess of 37 years. • Previously patients who had miscarried in IVF or ICSI treatment cycle.

  8. What is Laser Assisted Hatching? • Patients undertaking IVF (ICSI) for the first time, who are reflected poor responders because they have required a high dose of gonadotropins for poor ovarian response. • Patients with three or fewer embryos can choose laser assisted hatching treatment. • Patients who request laser assisted hatching and are fully knowledgeable of its use and function.
