About Us • WTS - Women’s Transportation Seminar (founded in 1977) has 46 chapters worldwide • Mission: Transforming the transportation industry through the advancement of women • Scholarships (applications due Nov. 9, and winners selected in December) – in 2011, we awarded over $30,000 in scholarship money to young women • Events (lunch programs, annual scholarship dinner, mentorship program, and more!) About Women in Transportation “Women are an essential part of today's labor force, yet women are still underrepresented in the technology areas. There are more than 60 million women in the labor force today, yet women make up only 8 percent of engineers; 18 percent of engineering technicians; and 30 percent of natural scientists (which includes chemists and geologists).” (http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/wit/page1.htm)

  11. Phase 4 – Engineering/Design and Construction Structural engineers design the transportation facilities (roadways, bridges, airports, railroads, trails, etc) using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, and the construction management team builds it

There is plenty of opportunity in this field for our future graduates to make major changes and improvements to the way we move goods and people in our region!
