  1. NCBIA Committee - Education To provide quality education to code officials and associates,  to promote competency and knowledge of the NC State Building Codes, to maintain our integrity in all associated actions, and to promote professionalism for code officials as we strive to ensure our common goal of preserving and protecting the Life, Safety, and Well-Being of the general public.

  2. NCBIA Committee – Code Development To represent NCBIA in areas subject to the understanding and development of the North Carolina Residential and Building Codes.  The committee seeks to assess current codes and code change proposals to ensure they represent the Association’s stance and understanding of the code.  It also seeks to simplify code language to help create a code that is better understood as to its intent.

  3. NCBIA Committee - COCO To represent the NCBIA on the NC Council of Code Officials and to facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation with other building trade associations.

  4. NCBIA Committee – Code Resource To provide NCBIA Members, Associates, and the General Public with access to any information that would help them research code issues and provide additional knowledge and insight into clarifying those issues and increasing their code knowledge.

  5. NCBIA Committee – Awards & Scholarships Upon signing a “Conflict of Interest” statement to ensure fairness, the Awards Committee is tasked with evaluation of applications, transcripts, and letters of recommendation for students seeking one of four Scholarships and whose parents or legal guardians are members of the NCBIA.  The Committee is further tasked with deciding whom is to receive our Inspector Awards, Distinguished Service Awards, Certificates of Appreciation, Honorary Memberships, and Gold Medal Life Memberships.

  6. NCBIA Committee - Grants Committee functions as liaison between the NCBIA membership and the various granting agencies such as ICC, Federal/State Government, or Private/Commercial Groups who provide funding opportunities to enable our members to attend Technical, Administrative, and other Professional Development Events.   The committee should maintain contact with these agencies to make sure that our vision and goals are in alignment with their vision and to provide guidance to our membership to ensure that all correspondence and paperwork is properly completed and filed in a timely manner.

  7. NCBIA Committee - Legislative The committee seeks to keep apprised of proposed legislation affecting the code enforcement community and keep our members and others informed of the process and the potential ramifications to our profession. It also seeks to elicit input from our members to their legislators when appropriate and to provide guidance on issues which affect the code community.

  8. NCBIA Committee - Nominating Conduct fair and impartial elections to promote participation in establishing a leadership that represents all of the members of NCBIA.

  9. NCBIA Committee – Programs & Site Selection To support the Educational Committee’s development and presentation of opportunities for NCBIA member’s professional development by bringing together organizations and individuals. To promote, foster and engage the NCBIA member’s participation through the organization of activities in dynamic, entertaining and supportive locations throughout our state.

  10. NCBIA Committee - Website To provide a technology tool to our members and associates that enable interaction and updates about code issues, our association, and our elected leadership.  To post pertinent subject matter and topics that are critical to our duties as code officials, and to provide a history of our leadership and prestigious awards presented by the NCBIA

  11. NCBIA Committee – Media & Publishing To promote NCBIA through electronic and traditional media sources. To connect with the construction industry in order to share resources and provide valuable, up to date information.

  12. NCBIA Committee - Historian Committee reviews the history of the NCBIA since its inception in 1956 to the present and provides yearly updates to make sure that the “History” accurately reflects how the Association has evolved through the years.

  13. NCBIA Committee - Merchandise To provide NCBIA branded attire of good quality to our members.  To provide these items at a reasonable price, and to grow pride in our organization through display of this apparel in our normal business and personal environments.

  14. NCBIA Committee - DCERT The NCBIA Disaster Code Enforcement Response Team provides rapid deployment for the evaluation and observation of vulnerability and the estimation of risk to properties located in areas subjected to declared disasters from weather, earthquakes, flooding and all other potential hazards of related disasters when and wherever assistance is requested.
