  2. Focus of our Committee • As the education committee, during the given time period, the main focus of action was helping out poorer school in the local areas mainly though monetary donations and the donation of supplies.

  3. Target Areas and Groups • Poor/underprivilaged children • Public schools who need supplies and money • Uneducated Families • Schools without libraries

  4. Expected Outcomes • To help as many schools as possible • Collect a significant amount of money and supplies to donate as much as possible. • Build libraries and fill them with books • Help out people with various projects relatd to education

  5. Procedure • Communication with teachers/companies • Finding sponsors • Bake Sales, deciding how to raise donations • Communicate with social comittees to find out which schools to help

  6. Achievements • The school from Billings,helped build a school in Guatemala. • Koç Schools educated students about universities. • HEV Schools taught English to poorer public schools. • School no. 2 from Russia collected books and clothes for schools who couldn’t afford them

  7. ODTÜ donated books and money, visited schools to learn about various problems. • Adapazarı ENKA also built a library at a school near them and are now collecting money for another ‘build a library’ project. • Çevre Schools collected books for schools that couldn’t afford them. • ENKA Schools has located a school to build a library in and have started measurements and the

  8. Problems we faced • Costs • Not enough donations • Sometimes the lack of enthusiasm from peers • Difficulty in communicating with other members of the committee • Agreeing and communicating with people in with the roject (Principles, Ministry of education)

  9. What we discussed in the Committee • The importance of debating and creating awareness. • Importance of education and different kinds of learning, learning methods • The difference between private and public schools • Teachers and their effects to education • Problems that individuals such as ourselves face and different situations
