  2. Eligible Actions • diversification of production in agriculture • improved product quality • sustainable management & use of resources • improved quality of the environment & the countryside • identification of products for new uses and markets

  3. Types of Action • Targeted - 73% of total budget - 50% EU • trans-national, adding value to national schemes • participation by NGOs encouraged • European network of national databases of in situ AnGR, linked to DAD-IS • web based European networks of ex situ AnGR

  4. Types of Action - 2 • Concerted - 9 % of total budget - 80% EU • improving co-ordination at EU level through seminars & reports on national programmes • measures undertaken at Community level to improve co-ordination with other EU programmes (e.g. 1257/99) • developments in international negotiations

  5. Types of Action 3 • Accompanying - 8% of total - 80% EU • stakeholder seminars for dissemination of information • training courses • preparation of technical reports • promotion of utilisation of the market

  6. AnGR Project areas • Network of web-based inventory with reference to activity of ERFP & DAD-IS • identifying national priorities for action • starting cryo-banks based on national collections • characterisation and evaluation of AnGR • performance testing regimes for endangered breeds • European network of Ark Farms • cross-national conservation breeding programmes • strategies to enhance profitability through growth of heritage & environmental management value
