  2. TWO PHASES IN THE LIFE CYCLE OF A PLANT

  3. VEGETATIVE STAGE- includes the growth of roots, stems, and leaves.

  4. REPRODUCTIVE • STAGE- • the development of flowers, fruits and seeds take place.

  5. THREE ESSENTIAL CONDITIONS FOR GERMINATION

  6. 1.Amount of moisture - which is needed to soften the seed coat and to help in the circulation of food which the seed contains.

  7. 2.Oxygen -which when moisture is absorbed, oxygen takes in andcarbon dioxide is given off by the seed.

  8. 3.Warmth and air in the soil - needed to germinate seeds like melon, corn beans, cucumber and tomatoes that’s why they are planted at the onset of dry season.

  13. THE REPRODUCTIVE STAGE

  14. A new stage in a plant life that begins production of flowers and ends with maturing of seeds. It is made up of organs like sepals, stamens, pistils, and petals.

  15. Hypocotyls - the part of the embryo that first grows downward into the soil forms the stem of the seedling Epicotyls - the young leaves of the new plant

  16. Development of a seed epicotyl hypocotyl embryo seed

  17. ORGANS IN PRODUCTION OF SEED

  18. Pistils – are the female part of the flower which consists of an ovary with an upright extension.

  19. Stamens– compose the male parts of the flower, each of which consists of a supporting filament and an anther where the pollen grain is produced.

  20. Stigma- which lies on top of the style serves as the pollen-receptive surface.

  21. Pollination- a process in which fertilization takes place when a male nucleus in the pollen tube unites with the female nucleus of the ovule.
