WHY…. • ~ 10% population have atopic eczema • ~ 2% have psoriasis • Occupationally acquired skin disease - second most common cause of lost work time • Impact of childhood atopic eczema on family life greater than asthma or diabetes • 15-20% GP consultations dermatological • BCC increased by 235% (between 1980 – 90) • Melanoma doubled in frequency every 10 years

In Trafford • One of highest cost specialties for first outpatients • Total outpatient spend ~1.56 million 10/11 • ~ 81K over 11/12 YTD plan • Variation in referral patterns • Limited data - which conditions referred • GPs reported long waiting times • Willingness to work together to improve and integrate services
