Implementation strategy of OFAB Nigeria Key areas identified for effective programme management are: • Training • Communication • Partnership and Collaboration • Development of Champions • Budget and Finance • Monitoring and Evaluation • Identification and Mitigation of risks • Structure and Governance • Leveraging on existing biotech-related projects

Proposed action/activity plan for 2014/2015 Key activities to include: PC Meetings to review and strengthen implementation strategy of OFAB Develop strategies to monitor impact of social media OFAB session in the FCT to target stakeholders such as policy makers, the Bank of Industry and Bank of Agricultural Collaboration with other Institutions to co-host events projecting Biotechnology and to strengthen Stakeholder relationships and network (e.g. co-hosting Biotechnology Society of Nigeria annual conference and co-hosting agricultural forums with the National Productivity Centre) Advocacy visits to the editors to promote relationship with the media

  11. Proposed additional strategies/ activities requiring additional funding/ collaboration Develop database with contacts of stakeholders (farmers, agricultural extension workers etc.). Partnership with telecommunication companies for Robo-calls or text messages and jingles on Biotechnology in local dialects and English; translation of OFAB materials in the major languages Partnership with Educational bodies / Govt. agencies to promote biotechnology in schools. Produce USB sticks with pre-loaded information material on Agric. Biotech and OFAB. Procure a branded vehicle to promote biotechnology as well as reduce logistics cost. Uploading of biotech promotional video clips via Youtube.

Conclusion OFAB aims to… to enhance knowledge sharing and awareness that will raise the understanding and appreciation of agricultural biotechnology and contribute to building an enabling environment for decision-making. OFAB discussions contribute to increased awareness on how biotechnology can contribute to food security and economic developmental goals. Therefore, OFAB Nigeria is keen on contributing towards the fulfillment of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda of Mr. President.
