  4. 5 W’s + 1 H • What? type of event • When? day, time, duration • Where? location • Who? target audience • Why? purpose of event • How? costs, etc.

  5. Marketing • Email mass blast and targeted • Flyers distribute at meetings; email • Personal invites phone, email • Online calendar/websites • MDWG Info lists ~600 people

  6. Plan your work… work your plan • Be organized • Advance prep pays off • Checklists work • Keep participants in mind

  7. Example: Direct a Squadron Leadership School 5 W’s + 1 H Confirm date, location, costs Advertise initial details You do not need all the details at this point!Get it on people’s radar!

  8. Locate instructorsthey need time to prepare • Create checklist for the event spell out needs – audio/visual, food, bathrooms materials/handouts. • Advertise with more details encourage registration

  9. Before the actual eventmake any copies needed buy supplies, food obtain equipment - make sure it works! • Arrive early and set up this is key to a better day! • Greet participants – smile!

  10. Fight any fires They will happen! Remain flexible • Afterwards Clean up and return keys & equipment Say thank you Review the day – After Action Report File any needed reports Ensure participants get credit
