  4. TYPES OF PATHOGENS: VIRUS: Infection caused by the presence of a virus in the body. BACTERIAL: Infection that is caused by bacteria. FUNGAL: Infection caused by fungus.

  5. Bacterial Examples: • Streptococcus • Salmonella • Syphillis

  6. Fungal Examples: • Yeast infections

  7. Viral Examples • Mumps • Measles • Chicken Pox

  8. Common animal diseases: • DOG: Coccidia- infection of the intestinal tract • CAT: canine distemper virus- affects organs of the body • HORSE: roundworm- parasite • RODENT: arenavirus- inflammation of brain and spinal cord • COW: coxiellaburnetti- intracellular bacteria
