  1. Historyof video game sound design. A interactive timeline on the history of sound design in video games.

  2. Synopsis • The audience should expect to see a timeline that shows the development of sound design and music through the history of video games. This will be presented with intractable sounds, text boxes and a controllable player character. Genre/format: The genre of this project will be in education and in the style of a timeline but the format of a game level.

  3. Target audience My main target audience is games development students ages 16-24. They will be interested in this product is because I will help to expand their knowledge on video game development and its history and could help them in their future career and on their course. This target audience will be a niche audience rather then a main stream one as I am targeting a specific audience rather then a generalized one. I got my information for the demographic of my target audience from www.igda.org for their 2016 survey data about developers and students in the industry. Johanna Weststar, M.-J. L. 4. Key issues • My product will be for educational purposes and will make my audience think about the importance of sound design in video games and how audio has affected the development of video games. • I want my audience to ask what where the key development in sound design through the history of video games? And how where they important? I want them to be ask this question as it is mainly what the focus of my timeline is, to show people the history of sound design and music in video games.

  5. Concept My Interactive timeline will go from the start of the video games, all the way to the present will be produced on game maker and will go through the history of video games and show how sound has evolved through the decades in terms of technology, use and importance. Influences My main influence for creating this comes form my GSCE music course as it made me see the importance in sound and music and made me realizes that sound is one of the most important aspects of a video game. Because of this I want to know how sound design has developed over the history of video games as I want to see it was just as important from the start as it is now in todays industry. I also have been influence by some of the activates we have done on the course.

  6. Technical requirements • For my project I will need a computer that has game maker install on it and will Microsoft office on it as well. I will also need access to the internet for research purposes. • I will need these hardware requirements if I am to run game maker moderately well: • • 64bit Intel compatible Quad core CPU • • 8GB RAM • • DX11 based Graphics card • • Microsoft Windows 10 • • SSD with at least 3GB free disk space

  7. Research • My secondary research/literature review • I am creating a literature review for my secondary research and is set in a Thematic style so it will be set into themes and topics for each source I have for my secondary research. The main topics I will be looking into are key technology, key events and practitioner experience. Primary research My primary research method I have used and will be using. Experimentation with imagery I will use and how it is presented and interviews with in the sound design side of the industry. I will also create mood boards to help me think of ways that I can visually present my timeline.

  8. What it will include • My project will include key facts and statistic In the information presented in my timeline that are relevant to the development of sound design invideo games. For example facts about key technology and devices that helped sound advance in games, what they where, how they help and what impact they had. The interactive parts will be with the player activating text boxes and sounds that were important to their Decades.

  9. The style and presentation of my project • My style will be like a normal time line only focused of the sound and the players interaction with sound so their will not lots of chucks of texts on the screen most of the time. • The timeline will look different for each decade it is in. I will include the key colours for each decade. It will presented in a 2d pixel art single plane view on game maker.
