  1. God’s Redeeming Love Part 6 – “It’s Not You… It’s Me!” Hosea 5

  2. OUR GOD IS WISE: He knows everything about us, even when we do not know Him as we should (Hosea 5:1-4)

  3. Psalm 139:1–6 (ESV) 1 O Lord, you have searchedme and known me! 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

  4. Psalm 139:1–6 (ESV) 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.

  5. 1 Chronicles 28:9 (ESV) 9 “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lordsearches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

  6. OUR GOD IS HOLY: He will not be found through heart-less religion (Hosea 5:4-7)

  7. Psalm 24:3–4 (ESV) 3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.

  8. OUR GOD IS MERCIFUL: He mercifully and patiently disciplines His people (Hosea 5:8-12)

  9. OUR GOD IS SOVEREIGN: He uses even the wickedness of man to fulfill His own purposes (Hosea 5:10,14-15)

  10. Proverbs 16:4 (ESV) 4 The Lord has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.

  11. ROMANS 8:18-39 • Our suffering is real(due to the curse) • It was God who subjected creation to frustration – so that it might be redeemed. • No matter what happens in our lifetime God is doing a work in us that will not be frustrated. • Even more than that – everything that happens in our lifetime is being used by God to accomplish His purpose. • God’s love is with us each step of the way.

  12. OUR GOD IS LOVING: He will even destroy the temporal in order to redeem the eternal (Hosea 5:14-15)

  13. Hebrews 12:3–13 (ESV) 3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. 4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.

  14. Hebrews 12:3–13 (ESV) 6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” 7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

  15. Hebrews 12:3–13 (ESV) 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.

  16. Hebrews 12:3–13 (ESV) 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 12 Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.

  17. OUR GOD IS LOVING: He will even destroy the temporal in order to redeem the eternal (Hosea 5:14-15)
