  1. Relationship Unit Review Objective: The students will be able to summarize in groups the key terms discussed in the relationship unit after reading information in the text book.

  2. Today’s Assignment • Break into six groups with 4-5 students in each group to read and summarize information from the textbook. Each group is responsible for a chapter. Summarize, analyze, and apply what they learned to enhance your understanding of the concepts discussed during the relationship unit. • You need to summarize the key points of your section • This summary needs to be written on the line paper provided to be collected and graded • Each student must take a turn writing • Turn in the completed assignment that is associated with your chapter

  5. Group 1: Respecting Yourself and Others • Chapter 6 Lesson 2 Pgs. 148 - 151 • Summarize your chapter • Assignment: Create a slogan embedded within a magazine ad that promotes tolerance. A slogan is a brief attention-getting phrase that summarizes a goal, an opinion or a position.

  6. Group 2: Healthy Family Relationships • Chapter 7 Lesson 1 pgs. 166 - 171 • Summarize your chapter • Assignment: Create a large poster using words and images to illustrate ways that families promote health.

  7. Group 3: Strengthening Family Relationships • Chapter 7 Lesson 2 pgs. 172 - 177 • Summarize your chapter • Assignment: Develop a picture book for young children who are experiencing a change in their family. Include ways to cope using pictures and words

  8. Group 4: Help for Families • Chapter 7 Lesson 3 pgs. 178 - 183 • Summarize your chapter • Assignment: Create a multimedia presentation discussing the effects of child and spousal abuse. The presentation should urge victims of domestic violence to seek help.

  9. Group 5: Peer Pressure and Refusal Skills • Chapter 8 Lesson 2 pgs. 198 - 204 • Summarize your chapter • Assignment: Create a script using a situation with the three steps for effective refusal skills.

  10. Group 6: Understanding Violence • Chapter 9 Lesson 2 pgs. 229 - 235 • Summarize your chapter • Assignment: Some researchers have found a correlation between watching violence in the media and being aggressive. Analyze how much you think this external influence contributes to violence in society.

  11. To Earn Credit for Today’s Class… • Turn in your written summary – 5 sentences (each person in your group should write a sentence)– 5pts • Turn in the completed assignment associated with the chapter you read – 5 pts.
