  2. CULTURES • THERE ARE MANY CULTURES IN THE WORLD.A CULTURE IS YOUR WAY OF LIFE.ITS HOW YOU DO AND HOW YOU ARE. A CULTURE IS SOMETHING THAT CANT CHANGE.

  3. MY CULTURE MY FAMILY HAS BEEN TRACED BACK TO LOUISIANA. ANY FURTHER BACK , I’M NOT SURE OF.

  4. Language & Clothing Language Clothing • Our primary language The clothing we mainly • is English. At home, we wear would be called • are allowed to use “bad business casual. We do • English.” For example, not wear saggy, baggy • we are able to say, “I pants and oversized • ain’t got a dollar.” This shirts. We are neat….but • would be unacceptable for me ironing is • in public. OPTIONAL.

  5. FOOD AND ART Food art No one in my family is big on visual arts. We are better at the performing arts. We don’t have any famous actors or actresses, but my brother and I are on our way. • We eat a variety of foods. Where my family came from, we probably had a mix of French, African, and Indian foods. Most of it now is called, “soul food!”

  6. HOLIDAYS AND HOUSING HOLIDAYS Housing • We don’t have any We all live in various types • distinct cultural holidays housing. My mom grew up • that we celebrate. We in what is called a “shotgun • mainly celebrate Christian house.” She says when • holidays like Christmas you opened the front door • and Easter. you could see all the way to the back door.

  7. MUSIC AND LIFE ROUTINE MUSIC LIFE ROUTINE • Our family has a rich history in music…my great, great , great grandfather could play nine different instruments with no formal training. The banjo was his favorite. • We have a family reunion here in Texarkana every year, and every year, I meet someone new! Its awesome!

  8. BACKGROUND AND GOVERNMENT RACIAL BACKGROUND GOVERNMENT • Our racial background for our family was more than likely African. The farthest back we have record is that our ancestors were slaves in Louisiana. • The majority of my family members are Democratic.

  9. HISTORY AND TRADITIONS FAMILY HISTORY FAMILY TRADITIONS • From what I know, my family started in a small town in Louisiana. My great, great , great grandfather , Emanuel Roberson moved to Texarkana, AR, met and married his wife, Sadie Downs. • One family tradition is that we will open one gift on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas day. That is so fun. Mom always gives us the gift that is a hint to the rest of them.

  10. LITERATURE AND RELIGION LITERATURE RELIGION • My family and myself will read most anything. We have always believed that the more you read the more knowledge you inherit. My favorite reading is the“ Percy Jackson” series by Rick Riordan. • My family has always had a history rooted in the Bible and the principles in it. I am active in my church. I do several things from usher to sing in the choir.
