  1. Molten Slag ApplicationBucket lip 2”X24”X156” TiCo strip Tube City-IMS Cayce, SC uses a modified Cat 972 loader to dig molten (plastic) slag from the furnace pit at CMC Steel. Bucket lip weight is 2,100 # Previous materials used for lips include: Carbon and AR400 plate last about 1 month Tribraze with tungsten carbide crystal strips (TiCo) last about 3 months (900 hours) and cost $4,486. AST8000 with two 1” strips of tungsten carbide crystals has lasted 6 months + COST $3,637. Lip was changed at approximately 9 months AST8000 bucket lip at 6 months
