  1. “Stir You Up By Reminding You”

  2. We Must Always Be “Reminded” The Importance Of Reminders • 2 Peter 1:12-15 • 2 Peter 3:1 • 2 Timothy 1:13 • 2 Timothy 2:2,14

  3. 2 Peter 1:12-15 “For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth. 13Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me. 15Moreover I will be careful to ensure that you always have a reminder of these things after my decease.”

  4. 2 Peter 3:1 “Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder).”

  5. 2 Timothy 1:13 “Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.”

  6. 2 Timothy 2:2, 14 (2), “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (14), “Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.”

  7. Why Reminders Are Needed Some Have Never Heard What They Should Know Judges 2:10; Isaiah 5:13; Hosea 4:6

  8. Judges 2:10 “When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the LORD nor the work which He had done for Israel.”

  9. Isaiah 5:13 “Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.”

  10. Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

  11. Why Reminders Are Needed Some Have Never Heard What They Should Know Judges 2:10; Isaiah 5:13; Hosea 4:6 Some Later Forget Or Reject That Which They Now Know 2 Thess. 2:9-10; 1 Tim. 4:1-2, 6-7; 2 Tim. 3:6-8

  12. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

  13. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.”

  14. 1 Timothy 4:6-7 “If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. 7But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.”

  15. 2 Timothy 3:6-8 “For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith.”

  16. 3:6-8 Some Change Basic Bible Teaching That God Wants Us To Know Isaiah 5:20; 2 Tim. 3:13

  17. Isaiah 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

  18. 2 Timothy 3:13 “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

  19. Conclusion What is your attitude when brethren remind you of what God’s Word says? Do you resent it? We all should appreciate being reminded of the teaching of God!
