The Séance or Concert Session: the role of the music • BACKGROUND • Suggestopedia, is also known as Desuggestopedia. • Suggestopedia is a specific set of learning recommendations derived from Suggestology. • Suggestopedia is developed by the • Bulgarian Psychiatrist-Educator • Georgi Lozanov. • The most importantcharacteristics of Suggestopedia are • Decoration, • Furniture, and • Arrangement of the classroom, • The use of music, and • The authoritative behavior of the teacher. • The music and musical rhythm to learning. • APPROACH: • THEORY of LANGUAGE • Suggestopedia does not have a theory of language. • THEORY of LANGUAGE LEARNING • Six principal theoretical components • Authority • Infantilization • Double-planedness • Intonation • Rhythm • Concert pseudo-passiveness • CONCLUSION • ADVANTAGES • Techniques are effective • Peripheral learning • First concert (active concert) • Second concert (passive concert) DISADVANTAGES • Limited time • Intensive REFERENCES Larsen-Freeman, Diane, Techniques and Principles in Language Teaching,(2000), Oxford University Richards, Jack C. and Rodgers, Theodore S. Give tests and respond tactfully to poor papers.(if any) Stress global rather than analytical attitudes toward material Maintain a modest enthusiasm.
