  8. Application Process • Traditional BSN • Complete Application • Essay • Personal statement- optional • One Academic Reference • Official college transcripts (from every college attended) • GPA- 2.7 Cumulative, 2.5 Science • 32 transferable units • Application fee: • $20- online application

Online Application • We only accept online applications • Go to www.msmc.la.edu • Click on Admissions • Nursing Transfer Student • Apply Online • Select the application for the BSN program The PDF of the application is able to be downloaded and printed from our website. The application fee if the PDF is submitted is $40.

International Transcripts • If you attended college outside the United States, you will need to submit: • A comprehensive international transcript evaluation • An official, foreign transcript • The recommended evaluation service is Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute www.acei1.com 800-234-1597

Transcripts • We will need official transcripts from all the colleges attended, including: • Any community college attended • Any university attended • Foreign transcripts from study-abroad program • Official Transcripts from all foreign study • Transcripts from vocational program I.e. C.N.A, Massage, Phlebotomy, E.M.T • Transcripts for all courses completed prior to deadline (including the preceding Fall)

  14. Application Deadlines • February 1st • Traditional BSN & Transfer Pre-Nursing deadline The Mount only admits into this Nursing program in the Fall

  16. Applying For Financial Aid • Apply for financial aid every year after January 1st. • Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) • Deadline is March 2nd.

Vernon, IL 62864-8601 • E-mail: www.ed.gov/studentaid. • 3-4 weeks paper process time • 1-2 weeks electronic process time • Include Mount St. Mary’s School Code: 001243 so we receive your FAFSA information.

  18. You Will Receive a Financial Aid Offer from the Student Financing Office Once we have received… • Your Student Aid Report from the Federal Processor • Any supplemental information that has been requested • Notification of your official acceptance into the program

  20. Grants Pell Grants • Based on “need” as determined by the Federal Government as well as enrollment status. • Up to $4310 Cal Grants • Based on “need” and GPA as determined by CSAC. • Separate application required. • www.csac.ca.gov • Up to $9708

  21. Merit Awards • Merit Awards: Upon application to the Mount, you will be considered for a merit award based upon your academic achievement. • Awarded by the Admissions Department.

  22. Outside Scholarships • Outside Scholarships: These funds are not associated with MSMC. Outside organizations award these funds to students and are coordinated with student’s financial aid award. • Students research and apply on their own.

  23. Stafford Loans • Subsidized Loans: Need based loans. Government pays interest while student is in school. • Unsubsidized Loans: Not need based loans. Borrower pays interest six months after he/she has graduated. • Guaranteed & Deferrable • Must be enrolled ½ time

  25. Independent Student • 24 years of age or older. • Is working on a master’s or doctorate program. • Married • Have children who receive more than ½ of their support from you. • Have dependents other than children or spouse. • Ward or dependent of the court. • Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

  26. Parent Plus Loan • Federal loan offered to parent. • Based on credit. • Student must be enrolled at least ½ time. • Repayment begins after the loan is fully disbursed. • If loan is rejected; becomes an unsubsidized loan under student name.

  27. Alternative Financing • TMS Payment Plan: (see business office for more information 310-954-4040). • Private Loans: Credit based and sometimes require a credit worthy co-signer. Interest rates vary, depending on credit history. Repayment occurs six months after graduation.

  32. THREE NURSING PROGRAMS • DOHENY • Associate Degree in Nursing – 2 to 3 years • Evening classes, clinical classes on weekends • Overall GPA of 2.5 or greater • Science GPA of 2.5 or greater • Applicants are required to take the T.E.A.S exam. • Starts in Fall and Spring

  34. CHALON CAMPUS • RN TO BSN program – 1 to 2 years • Must be licensed / graduated from accredited college • Overall GPA of 2.7 • Validation of clinical competence form • N40 Roy adaptation model – offered in summer and spring
