  8. CAS Continued If there is more than one record, click in the “Case Number” field to select it then use the Scroll arrows at the top of the screen to look at the other cases.

  10. CAS Continued • Click on the “Next Page” button to go to the “Commitment Order” screen. • The screen shows the statute name and number that the inmate is convicted under, severity and time information. • See next page for screen shot.

  13. Escapes continued • Escapes from community corrections, halfway house, PPCS, GPS and EMP receive 0 points in the escape section. • However, escape from community corrections, halfway house PPCS, GPS, EMP will be assessed misconduct points if within the applicable time frames.

  14. Escapes continued • Two or more escapes from minimum, transit detention unit (TDU), or juvenile detention within past 10 years will receive 6 points.

  15. Escapes continued • Escape or attempted escape from minimum, TDU or juvenile detention within the past 5 years will receive 7 points.

  16. Escapes continued • Any escape or attempted escape from medium or maximum, county jail, juvenile “medium secure” institution (L.E. Rader, COJC, SWOJC, COJC4G) , Restricted Housing Unit or escape from any level of security that resulted in injury to another or a felony conviction for a violent crime while on escape status, unless inmate receives zero points for age. • In this section, inmates only receive points if they are under the age of 51.

  17. Escapes continued Escape after lawful arrest will not be assessed with escape points. If such cases involve violence or injury (i.e., assault and battery on an officer) they may be addressed in the discretionary override for higher security section on the “Custody Assessment Scale”

Adjustment • The inmate’s current earned credit class level is used to score this item. • Enter 1 point if the inmate is currently assigned to class level 1; • Enter 0 points if the inmate is currently assigned to class level 2; or • Enter minus 1 point if the inmate has been assigned to class level 3 or 4.

  29. CAS Continued • Once you are in the assessment screenselect the inmate you will be assessing by entering the DOC # in the “DOC #” field. • See screen shot on next page.

  31. CAS continued • There needs to be a new custody assessment created at each review. • To create a new CAS highlight one of the “TYPE” box, then click green plus sign and select the assessment that you need.

  35. CAS Continued • Next select the from the LOV for the Authority that is completing the CAS. This is usually Case Manager. • OMS will fill in the current date in the Assessment Date field. • Click on the Questionnaire button to open the Assessment Questionnaire.
