  4. Can you think of another way to reduce health care cost that was not addressed in the previous list? Another way to contain rising cost of Health care is to put a cap on malpractice lawsuit awards.

  5. How do the DRG rules benefit patients financially? If a patient has insurance that pays by the DRG rules the patient does not have to pay for any of the bill that the health care provider charged over the DRG limit.

Reasons for the Growth in Home Health Care • Medical advances allow better management of chronic and incurable diseases, including pathologies related to HIV and AIDS. • Medicare's diagnosis-related groups promote earlier discharge of hospitalized patients, reducing the length of hospital stays. • Patients (or caregivers) often desire to avoid prolonged expensive care at the end of life. • Patients choose to receive care in the home.

  14. OBRAOminbus Budget Reconcilliation Act OBRA is an act that was passed in 1987 to implement certain basic rights and guidelines for nursing home care facilities. It’s intent was to ensure that the residents of the nursing home received the best care possible.
