  3. WHESDN “I actually found it as useful as a face to face meeting.  I did not feel second-class in any way and quite forgot that I was sitting alone. I think it works for this group as there isn’t anybody who dominates conversation – we all tend to speak to each other rather than at each other.  I (have) found it to be less effective with other groups. I think we should take advantage of the technology and schedule more but shorter meetings.  So much happens between our meetings that I usually only have time to mention a skim of what I have been doing. ”

  4. NASES 10 people at four locations: Wrexham, Cardiff, Bangor, Aberystwyth “The equipment was very easy to use... The meeting went well. The slight time delay was strange particularly where humour is involved. Glyn Dwr had some problems with sticking initially but this improved. I felt at points I had to hold back and wait for speakers to fully finish before contributing but that is probably a good learning curve for me. I think the more we use it the better it will get… The downside is we did not get to socialise over lunch and sometimes it was difficult to let the conversation flow into a group discussion. That said I will definitely use this again. ”

  5. NASES 10 people at four locations: Wrexham, Cardiff, Bangor, Aberystwyth “I think the use of video conferencing was really beneficial, especially given there were attendants from all over Wales. Although it took some getting used to, it was really cost effective in terms of both money and time. Had the meeting been in Aberystwyth (or North Wales as could be the case) I very much doubt I would have attended as it would most likely have taken up a whole day with travel and I’m not sure travel costs would have been authorised. Although the video conferencing took a bit of time to set up in some places before we got started, this was much more preferable to a relatively short meeting meaning a full day of work time. I would certainly be prepared to take part in video conferencing again for NASES meetings. ”

  6. Videoconferencing is… • Environmentally friendly • Budget friendly • Less stressful then travelling • Less time-consuming than travelling • Often more productive • Family friendly • Difficult to organise? • Intimidating? • Needs practice • Lacking in opportunities for off-line chats? • Under promoted?
