  2. What is videoconferencing? Communication between two or more locations using special cameras and the SuperNet.

  3. Why videoconferencing? • AB Learning has provided $60,000 to be invested in at least two videoconferencing suites per district. • Gain greater access to the Global community • PD opportunities • Virtual field trips

  4. How Does It Work? • Find a contact (eg. VCAlberta.ca) • Book a session with LTS • Turn on the equipment • Dial up your contact • Begin session

Implementation Three videoconferencing suites will be placed in ESSMY, SACHS, and LTS January, 2006 Lead teachers at SACHS and ESSMY will be trained to use the equipment and both schools will be involved in videoconferencing pilot projects Initial use of the videoconferencing equipment will focus on: • Professional development • Virtual field trips • Curricular enhancement

  7. Equipment Mobile videoconferencing unit Second camera for teacher/student presentations VHS/DVD recorder Memory stick for saving/transferring presentations

  8. Uses for the Equipment Virtual field trips Ask an expert Archiving student and teacher presentations Sharing presentations across school networks and/or the Internet Guest Speakers PD Sessions Teacher/student collaboration
