  1. Andy Warhol Pop Art

  2. What's great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coca Cola, Liz Taylor drinks Coca Cola, and just think, you can drink Coca Cola, too. A coke is a coke and no amount of money can get you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the cokes are the same and all the cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it. • – The Philosophy of Andy Warhol: (From A to B and Back Again), 1975

  3. Some Work

  4. Andy was probably the best know Pop Artist. • Pop art is taking everyday items and making them into art…something so recognized you would never believe them to be special…tomato soup cans, dollar bill signs, and celebrities.

  5. Mrs. D… Why do we care?

  6. Let the fun begin… • What we are going to do is create our own Warhol inspired pieces using photos of your choice…these would make GREAT gifts!

  7. First… • You will need to have a picture of your friends or family taken digitally…since this is fun you can be in the photo or even have taken it with your cell phone.

  8. Second… • Open your photo with Photoshop and crop photo to either: 2x2 for 20 squares 2.6x2.5 for 12 squares

  9. Third… • After you crop you will need to click on: Image--> Adjustments--> Threshold Adjust this and make so you can see we are working with humans.

  10. Fourth… • Save this to your folder.

  11. Fifth… • Using only your paint bucket you will add color to the black areas and the white areas with two different colors…giving your photo a pop art feel.

  12. As easy as… Take a Photo • Follow Directions 1-5 • Have Fun! • Check out the office for other examples from the advanced class!
