  1. Warm up • Copy HW • Review notes for 3 minutes… • Then clear off your desk except for a pencil or pen

When you are done…. • Don’t forget your NAME • Make the quiz pages 6,7 • When your done staple your quiz and put it on the front desk • Please rip off the next four pages of your white notebook and make them pages 8,9,10 and 11 • Page read page 277 and complete the back of your new page 8. It is the Preview question the page called The Rise of Democracy.

  5. Important Definitions!!! • Please add these three definitions to page 8- • Assembly-a group of citizens, in a democracy, that pass laws • Aristocrat-rich/powerful ruling class • Citizen-a person with certain rights andduties in the country

  6. Classwork/Homework… • Define each of the four types of government by filling in question two on the front and back of pages 9 and 10 2. Please use the timeline on page 277 to complete the individual timelines on front and back of pages 9 and 10 of your new notebook • Read pages 278-281 and complete the four “thought bubbles” on pages 9 and 10

Closure • Define the four types of government… • Monarchy-power in the hands of one ruler (king or Queen) • Oligarchy-power in the hands of a few (rich/smart) • Tyranny-absolute ruling power held by one person , not a lawful king • Democracy-ruled by the people (directly or through elected officials)
