Challenge for the week follow up

Challenge for the Week – Follow Up

How did everyone do with making brave and right choices last week? Does anyone want to share what they did?

The activity

The Activity

  • Ask for two helpers.

  • Have one student act out walking in the classroom and accidentally dropping a dollar on the floor.

  • Have a second student act out picking up the dollar off the floor and putting in his/her pocket.

  • Ask the children if that was being honest. Why? Or, Why not? How does it make you feel when people lie, cheat, or steal your things?

  • Have the children act out the same scenario but have the second student pick up the dollar and give it back to the first student.

  • Ask the students if the student was being honest now. How do you think our being honest makes others feel?

The object of the lesson

The Object of the Lesson

Points instructor needs to bring out:

  • Being honest is making the right choice all of the time, no matter who you are with and no matter how hard it can be.

  • Honesty can be difficult sometimes; especially when you are worried about others. But doing the right thing will build trust within the classroom, school and other places in their lives.

  • If everyone was honest there would be no stealing, no lying, no cheating, no bullying, and our school would be a better place to be.

  • Discuss how our lying, stealing, and cheating affect others. (Makes us feel sad, may not want to play with that person anymore, won’t trust them again, etc.)

Challenge for the week

Challenge for the Week

Challenge yourself to go for an entire week being honest in all you say and in all of your actions. If you slip up, be courageous and admit you were dishonest and keep going. Practice makes perfect, even when you are working on being honest!
