Division of Public Health Systems & Workforce Development • The world we would like to see: • One in which all low- and middle income countries have the public health systems, institutions, and workforce they need to be self-reliant in addressing their own public health challenges and priorities. • Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs): • Every low- and middle- income country has or has access to an • accredited FETP • 1 trained epidemiologist per 200,000 population • Each low- and middle-income country has a functional National • Public Health Institute that is the officially sanctioned institutional • home for: • Collection and analysis of surveillance data • National Public Health Laboratory • Accredited FETP • PH emergency response system • Public health leadership & • management capacity • strengthening program • Operational research; M&E system
