  2. THE PRESENT SITUATION Networks data base • NDSCC (lidar, Mm-wave radiometer - Thule) • MIRACLE (All sky camera – Ny Alesund) • GMOS (retrieval of historical data, development of the data base) Local data base ( restricted access) • CCT-IP Project ( www.isac.cnr.it/~radiclim/CCTower ) • ISACCO ( http://www.eswua.ingv.it/ingv/s_arc.php ) Data base are updated in quasi-real time or on a daily base Plots of several processed data can be downloaded. Stored by Research groups • Raw /processed data. Public for scientific cooperation under request.

  4. A distributed cyber(e)-infrastructure to collect, manage, publish and share polar research results is establishing. • This will be a service-based infrastructure built on Web technologies to implement resources (i.e. data, services and documents) discovery, access and visualization; semantic-enabled functionalities will be provided too. • The new infrastructure will be provided with SOS service to allow real time updates on data and metadata directly from remote sensors, and a new historical catalog of polar metadata federated into the new digital infrastructure. • The architecture applies the "System of Systems" principles to build incrementally on the existing systems by supplementing but not supplanting their mandates and governance arrangements, to keep the existing capacities as autonomous as possible. • This cyber(e)-infrastructure will implement multi disciplinary intero- perability following a Brokering approach, supporting SCAR data policy and in accordance with European and international standards, including GEO/GEOSS, INSPIRE.
