  2. Key Steps • English Gymnastics have produced a schools competition pack with set routines that can be used within Schools, within Clusters and on a wider scale • Sunderland intend to host a Key Steps Competition on Wednesday17th March 2010 at Sandhill View, 9:00am – 3:00pm

  3. Competition Format • The Competition consists of 3 disciplines - Floor, Vault & Body Management • Each of these has 3 levels within it Step 1 (Years 1 & 2) Step 2 (Years 3 & 4) Step 3 (Years 5 & 6)

  4. The Sunderland Competition • Key Step 1 Floor & Vault Y1 & 2 • Key Step 2 Floor & Vault Y3 & 4 • Key Step 3 Floor & vault Y5 & 6 Schools can choose to enter both floor & vault or just floor • Key Step 1, 2 & 3 Floor winners will go forward to the Tyne & Wear Festival at Dunston Activity Centre Friday 11th June, 10:00 – 2:30

  5. Teams • Gymnasts should have no previous competitive experience of gymnastics other than Key Steps • The top 4 scores on floor & the top 4 scores on vault from each team will be counted in the team result • A team consists of 4 – 6 pupils with at least 1 girl & 1 boy • Further details of team structure will be on the entry form

  6. The Sunderland Competition • Young leaders will undertake a Key Steps Judging course and judge on the day • Pupils are awarded a certificate and / or medal depending on their score • Foundation - Below 14 • Intermediate - Between 14 & 17 • Advanced - Above 17 Based on 2 disciplines

  7. The Resource Pack • Contains Wall Charts • A4 sized Work Cards showing all the routines • Resources that suggest competition formats & provide judging guidelines • Support materials for organisation • DVD which has children of varying abilities performing each routine & coaching tips for teachers

  8. What do I want from you?!! To support at least 1 of your schools in entering the competition
