Senate Policy E3: Rules for Conduct of Examinations • The Presiding Examiner: • Has the responsibilityto administer the examination according to the stated policies and practices. • Has authority over all candidates writing the exam. • Sets the instructionsthat all candidates must follow. • The following instructions/conditions are not exhaustive.

  3. Starting the Exam • Do NOT open, read, or write in your exam until instructed to do so. • Do NOT have any briefcases, bags, pencil cases, cell phones, electronic devices, or other items that are not permitted on or in your exam area. Put all items at the front of the class. • You are NOT allowed to leave for the first 30 minutes. • NO ONE is allowed to enter the exam after the first 30 minutes. • You must have your UWindsor ID card.

  4. During the Exam • Do NOT talk or communicate with another student in ANY MANNER. Do NOT assist another student in ANY MANNER. There are NO exceptions. • Do NOT pass erasers, rulers, reach over to borrow your friend’s calculator, pencils, or any other items. • Do NOT look at any other exam other than your own. • Do NOT move from your seat unless you are given permission to do so from the Presiding Examiner. • You MUST ask permission to use the washroom.

  5. During the Exam • The Invigilator(s) will confirm your UWindsor student ID matches the exam roster list. • The Invigilator will inspect your calculator and any other materials at your exam seat to check if there are forbidden materials. Such materials will be removed. • You are only allowed to use non-programmable calculators. • If you believe that another student(s) is cheating, you can inform the Presiding Examiner either verbally or by writing a note.

  6. In an Emergency • If it is SAFE to do so, you will hand in ALL EXAM MATERIALS to the invigilators. • You will gather your belongings and exit the room and building to a safe location. • You will NOT communicate with each other during the exit: the exam rules are still in force. • Evacuation does NOT mean the exam will be automatically rescheduled: the exam you have written may stand “as is”.

  7. Ending the Exam • At 5 minutes before the end of the exam, you must stay in your seat and not leave the exam room. • You must CEASE WRITING when the exam concludes.

  8. If You Violate the Above Rules… • Your examination paper(s) will be taken from you. • The circumstances will be noted. • You will be moved to a new seating location. • You will be given a new examination paper(s). • You are not allowed to return to your former seat. • The incident and all details will be reported. • If you do not abide by these rules, you will be again in violation of the examination instructions. • If necessary, Campus Police will be called to intervene.

  9. Do NOT even think about pulling a fire alarm to void the exam. If it is not an emergency, it is a CRIMINAL offence. Questions?
