  1. Proposed ITC Roadmap Mar 30, 2005

  2. Overview • Define ITC’s long-term goals • Recognize schedule ITC is working toward • Map long-term goals to Schedule

  3. ITC’s Long-Term Goals • Progress has occurred during Feb/Mar ’05 ITC meetings • Several discussions resulted in common high level goals • Duaine Pryor (Mentor Graphics) summarized the discussion topics into presentation form • Appears to be a general agreement on high-level goals: • Maintain existing SCE-MI goals (performance, portability, compatibility with SCE-MI 1.X) • Support a common verification environment and model architecture for both simulation and emulation, …thereby • broadening use of acceleration by end-users • broadening the availability of common verification-IP in the market. • General agreement on ‘how’ to achieve high-level goals • Lower ‘barriers-to-entry’ • Ease modeling effort • Ease use model adoption • Maintain performance focus

  4. ITC Schedule • Accellera Board has tasked ITC: • Bring out next revision of SCE-MI (2.0) ‘within a year’ • Proposal: ITC should aim for yearly updates to standard • Provide real benefit and improvement in a timely manner • Demonstrate progress and member cooperation to end-user and IP providers to bolster ‘permanent’ view of SCE-MI • Take ‘small’ (one-year-sized) steps in evolution of the standard, allowing IP providers to ‘keep up’ with changes.

  5. Map Goals to Schedule • Generally-Agreed Goals are quite broad • Focus on Interface issues • Continue to refine long-term SCE-MI goals as a background task • Define 2-year/3-year plan at high-level • Possibly a separate committees for • Modeling-related issues (Modeling Technical Committee, MTC?) • Usability, application and debug issues (the ”other” basket) • Plan first step (version 2.0) along long-term roadmap of SCE-MI: • ITC-agreed first steps (in late 2003) • These near-term goals fit within the context of the long-term goals discussed in Feb/Mar ’05 ITC meetings
