  1. CORE THEOSOPHICAL IDEAS FOUND IN ALL RELIGIONS All of life is on a Journey to greater awareness or consciousness. This is found in Gnostic Christianity, Homer, Ulysses, and is the story behind all great adventures. We leave the home nest, have many challenging adventures, and return with a sense of greater knowledge. Almost everyone feels there is a mission or something important they must do with their life.

  2. KARMA • . The universe is in balance and in harmony. In our attempts to deal with life we often upset the harmony by our choices. The disharmony comes back to us. The golden rule of Jesus, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The categorical imperative of Confucius who live almost 600 years before Christ, “Do not do unto others as you would not have them do unto you” are ways to live one’s life without upsetting the harmony.

  3. REINCARNATION Found in all religions and in early Christianity. In Theosophy there is the statement that once a human being there is no returning to lower forms.

  4. The Absolute or the idea of Oneness, Unity, Wholeness, or the All. Divinity in this sense is impersonal. It is not a God outside of us. It is beyond duality.

  5. The Seven Principles Some religions consider the human as dual (body and soul), others as triune (body, soul and spirit). Theosophy considers is to be septenary. There is the body, the astral (a kind of electrical design body), kama our emotions, prana (the energy of life), Manas (lower and higher mind), buddhi (our connection to the Oneness or Spirit) and Atma (the Oneness itself).

  6. Cycles All of life is cyclical including our bodies and the universe. What happens to us after we physically die or the States after death. Our higher principles continue and the lower principles dissipate to return in our next life.
